The problem

A production run either finishes on schedule or someone finds out why at 5pm, after it's too late to do anything about it. The status of a job lives on a whiteboard, in a supervisor's head, or on a paper traveler that follows the job around the floor and gets updated inconsistently. Material use gets logged at the end of a shift from memory, which means the numbers feeding your costing are approximate at best. Quality issues get caught, but the record of what caused them — which batch, which machine, which shift — is thin, so the same problem tends to recur because nobody can trace it back cleanly. As order volume grows, planning becomes reactive: you find out a run is behind when the delivery date is already at risk, not while there was still time to adjust.

We build a system that tracks a production run from job creation through to shipment, on the floor, in real time — not reconstructed from memory at the end of a shift. Each job gets a live status visible to planning, supervisors and, where useful, sales, so a delivery risk shows up while there's still time to act on it. Material use is logged at the point of consumption on a shop-floor device, feeding costing data that reflects what actually happened rather than an estimate. Quality checks are recorded against the specific batch, machine and shift, so when an issue recurs, there is a real trail to trace it to a cause instead of a guess. We build around your actual floor layout and existing terminology rather than importing a generic manufacturing template that requires you to relabel everything to fit. The build starts with the process step causing the most planning pain — usually job status or material tracking — and expands from there, tested against real production runs with your team before each phase goes fully live.

Will this replace our paper travelers entirely?

That's typically the goal, but we get there in stages — starting alongside your current paper process during the pilot, so nothing stops working while the digital version is being validated on real jobs.

Can this connect to our existing ERP for costing?

In most cases yes, through an API or a scheduled data sync, which we confirm during the mapping phase since manufacturing ERPs vary widely in what they expose.

How do shop-floor staff log progress without slowing down?

The floor interface is built for speed — a few taps at each stage, not a form to fill out. It has to be faster than the whiteboard it replaces, or staff won't use it, so that's a hard design constraint, not a nice-to-have.

Can we trace a quality issue back to its cause?

Yes — that's one of the main reasons manufacturers build this. Because checks are tied to batch, machine and shift from the start, tracing a recurring issue to a specific cause becomes a query instead of a guessing exercise.

What happens if we add a new production line later?

The system is built to extend to additional lines without a rebuild — each new line is scoped and added as its own module once the first is proven and stable.

Do we need to replace our machines or sensors to use this?

No. The system tracks jobs, materials and quality at the level of staff input and, where available, existing machine data feeds — it does not require new equipment on the floor to deliver value from day one.
